The enemy is coming. Unit-001 knows it.
Humans are soft, frail, weak, thousands of years behind their foe's technology, and yet, they've somehow survived everything the Enemy has thrown at them in this war. But Unit-001 is NOT soft, frail and weak. Ten thousand years of hard-won martial prowess has gone into 001's design; the organometallic neural network in its endurachrome skull, one of the first reliable derivatives of Enemy technology, can calculate the precise vector of every railgun-round, every shell, every energy beam and every blade-strike coming its way a trillion times faster than anything living, so swiftly that the world around 001 might as well be standing still, and the myomer muscles that move its limbs can react faster than most digital cameras can see. Layers of flintsteel and carbide ceramic armor cladding allow 001 to shed any enemy fire that DOES hit like water off a duck's back. Each vital system has multiple backups capable of handling the load while self-repair attempts to bring the damaged components back to life. Motive power is provided by three Sakharov-class antimatter-spiked fusion units in its torso, with six independent battery systems and an auxiliary fuel cell in each limb. A revolutionary kinetic-energy screen can channel some of the energy of incoming fire into these battery systems, allowing 001 to literally spit the Enemy's power right back in their teeth.

It discards most of the six hundred possible battle plans it has developed in the last minute, and constructs 1,300 more on the fly. It will continue refining them up to the moment of enemy contact. In an instant it thinks back to the early days of its genesis in a hidden human lab--now destroyed--remembers each and every being it has ever known, and gives thanks to them all.
